This week's entries are led by cases involving AI-generated nude images: two incidents in which teachers used AI to "nudify" students or colleagues, and a federal class action against AI makers over deepfake CSAM is expanding. US_Arizona – 8 July 2026: A former Phoenix music teacher is facing up to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of producing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) involving five of his students. The videos were discovered by the FBI on the dark web.

US_Arizona – 8 July 2026: An investigation by the Peoria (AZ) police department into allegations of sexual misconduct by two teachers has effectively shut down the school district. A search warrant gives the police up to ten days to inspect physical and electronic records in the school district headquarters. This is a wild situation that deserves a deeper dive later this week.

US_Michigan – 7 July 2026: A former Northview High School teacher and Hudsonville High School boys basketball coach who was charged with using AI to "nudify" images of two female students has accepted a plea deal. Under the terms of the agreement, he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts and faces up to a year in prison. The image was discovered on his iPad by his ex-girlfriend; he originally claimed that she created the fake image to get back at him after their breakup.

Australia – 9 July 2026: A dance teacher in Melbourne filed a lawsuit against a local community Facebook page for a post about his conviction for indecently assaulting a student. He is also suing the best friend of his victim, who posted a media account about the case.

US_Utah – 10 July 2026: An undercover Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) agent was posing as a 17-year-old girl in an "anonymous online chat room" when she was contacted by a Snow Canyon Middle School Teacher. Using a different anonymous platform, he sent the agent nude photos and videos, and requested the same from her. He was arrested on July 8.

England – 7 June 2026: A teacher in Lancashire was permanently struck off for screenshotting and saving public images posted by students on Instagram.
